A Little About Laura

Laura Davila is a fifth-generation bruja and hechicera from Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

She didn't set out to become a teacher or write books about brujería. She simply grew up in a family where this was part of life — the herbs, the prayers, the limpias, the remedios, and the quiet knowledge passed from one generation to the next.

It wasn't something separated from everyday life or given a special name. It was simply what the women in her family knew and what they did.

As Laura grew older, she realized that much of this knowledge existed almost entirely through oral tradition — passed through families, learned by watching, listening, helping, and eventually doing.

When it became her turn to carry that knowledge forward, she did the only thing that felt right.

She kept going. And eventually, she started sharing.

Her Books

Laura began writing because she realized that much of the knowledge passed down through families like hers had never been formally documented.

Traditions were carried through stories, observation, prayer, practice, and memory. And when knowledge exists primarily in the people who carry it, it can disappear when there is no one left to pass it on.

Writing became Laura's way of preserving some of that knowledge while sharing the folk-magic traditions of Northern Mexico with a wider audience.

What Is Brujería de Rancho?

Brujería de Rancho can loosely be understood as ranch witchcraft — the folk magic of everyday life in Northern Mexico.

It wasn't grand or mysterious.

It didn't require elaborate temples or expensive tools.

It lived in kitchens and ranchos.

It could be found in herbs growing outside the house, remedios kept in simple jars, prayers whispered quietly before bed, candles lit with intention, and limpias performed when someone needed spiritual care.

It was practical.

It was humble.

It was woven into everyday life.

This is the tradition Laura comes from and the tradition Brujería de Rancho exists to honor.

Laura doesn't believe these traditions should become frozen pieces of history. They survive when people continue learning them, practicing them, talking about them, and passing them forward.

That is what Brujería de Rancho is about.

The Shop

Brujería de Rancho is an extension of Laura's work.

Here you'll find books, prayer cards, ritual tools, spiritual items, handcrafted pieces, and other materials connected to the traditions Laura teaches.

Some pieces are handmade by Laura and her family. Others are carefully selected because they have a place within the tradition and practice of Brujería de Rancho.

You'll find items connected to protection, cleansing, prosperity, folk saints, traditional prayers, Mexican spiritual practices, and the everyday workings that have been part of these traditions for generations.

This isn't meant to be a shop filled with generic spiritual merchandise.

Everything here has a reason for being here.

Classes & Workshops

Teaching became another way for Laura to continue what generations before her had done.

Someone taught them. They taught her. Now she teaches others.

Laura's classes explore subjects including limpias, folk saints, traditional spiritual practices, ritual work, and the everyday folk magic of Northern Mexico.

Some students arrive with years of experience.

Others arrive knowing almost nothing except that they want to learn.

Both are welcome.

Laura's goal isn't to tell people what they must believe. It's to teach the traditions as she knows them, explain where they come from, and give students the knowledge to understand the practices for themselves.

No previous experience is necessary.

More Than a Store

Ultimately, Brujería de Rancho isn't only a store.

It's part shop, part classroom, part library, and part effort to preserve something that could otherwise disappear.

The books preserve it in writing.

The classes preserve it through teaching.

The handmade pieces preserve the work of the hands that came before.

And Brujería de Rancho gives those traditions a place to continue living.

Laura isn't interested in turning Mexican folk magic into something polished, exotic, or disconnected from the people who practiced it.

She wants to share it the way she knows it:

Practical. Personal. Imperfect. Alive.

And rooted in the place and people it came from.
